PC port
A PC port of Resident Evil 4 will be published by Ubisoft for the United States and Europe, and by Electronic Arts for Taiwan and Hong Kong. This port is scheduled to ship to the United States and Europe at 22. February 2007.[16] The port was shipped to Taiwan and Hong Kong on January 31, 2007, and pre-ordered copies were shipped a few days earlier. There is no planned release in Japan. The port will contain the bonus features from the PlayStation 2 version, such as "Separate Ways", the new weapon P.R.L. 412 laser cannon, and unlockable costumes for Leon and Ashley.[17] The graphics were expected to be superior to the PS2 port and even the original GameCube version due to more powerful hardware, and rumor goes that the mouse was to be supported. However, on January 26 2007 when copies were shipped to some in Taiwan who pre-ordered the game, it turned out that the mouse is not supported, and the graphics were a total disappointment. In comparison with captured screens of the original GameCube version and the PS2 port, the graphics of PC port is far behind the GameCube, and arguably also much inferior to PS2.[18] The title of the game that is shipped to Taiwan is not Resident Evil 4, but biohazard 4. However, the game is in English, and the cut scenes, like in the PS2 port, are pre-rendered. With a dull and dry colour tone and virtually no lighting or any other special effects present, many comment that the game looks as if developed with DirectX7.[19] The company responsible for porting, SourceNext, is much blamed on fansites for the poor quality of the port.
