Re:

Tweaking Boiling Point
Código: Seleccionar todo
I have spent the last few hours messing around with Boiling Point and the GAME.INI file, and have come to one conclusion = this game has some seriously messed up code somewhere.
But there are a few things you can do to help smooth out your gameplay....
All Users:
Check your page file amount, and set it higher if needed (Right-Click My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Pefromance Settings, Advanced.) I have mine set to 1856 - 2212. If you have serious stutter problems during the game
ATI Users :
1.) Download the latest (5.6) Catalyst drivers, (www.ati.com) I noticed an increase in FPS and also it solved a few bugs mentioned in the Boiling Point patch readme.
2.) Open up your catalyst driver settings and find the tab for "SmartGart" There is an option there called "Fast Writes", Set that to no and press OK. Disabling Fast write doesn't actually hinder your performance, quite the opposite and it improves stability - I noticed a lot less crashes with Fast Writes off.
If you want to learn more about Fast Read and Write features on ATI cards look here : http://www.ati.com/products/catalyst/SmartGart-FAQ.pdf
Tweaking the Game:
In your Boiling Point folder there is a file called Game.ini open this up in notepad now.
The first section is
[Sound Options]
Occasionly during play you might notice the lack of car sounds - or people not talking, and just missing audio in general. Changing the line
MaxSounds=8
to
MaxSounds=16 should solve this problem, at not too much of a performance hit for those of you with 1gb RAM +. If your confident of your rig, you can set this as high as 32 I found.
If you have less than a gig of RAM, Don't try setting this value higher than 8.
[Game]
Precache = 1
This setting means that the game will pre-load all sounds and what else into your RAM\Page File so your video card has quicker access to them, I recomend you dont change this setting to '0' unless you have less than 512mb, which I hope no-one does while trying to play Boiling Point.
LODCutDistance=15000
OBJCutDistance=25000
LEVCutDistance=25000
These values depict how far you can see Terrain, Objects and textures from. Basically at 15000 meters you can no longer make out the LOD (Level Of Detail) on objects and terrain, and at 25000 meters they obscure from sight completely.
LODCutDistance=15000 Setting this any higher can seriously haper performance, at no great visual advantage cos it just looks strange how detailed far away objects are.
OBJCutDistance=25000 Setting this higher doesn't quite hamper performance as much, but only go higher if your rig can handle it.
LEVCutDistance=25000 Put it lower for better performance, if your going for realism set it 10000000. lol unplayable
EnvFogStart=3000
EnvFogEnd=59500
For lower end video cards, you might want to change the first setting to a lower value, the second one doesn't really need to be altered.
FLYCutDistance=50000
I didn't notice a differance when lowering or raising this value - Even in my plane.
WaterFogColor_R=25
WaterFogColor_G=57
WaterFogColor_B=59
I wouldn't mess with these values, unless you think that the colours in the game underwater are wrong.
AnisotropicFiltering=4
I am not going to explain what AF does, you read that on Google no problem, but basically the higher the value the prettier the graphics. But you can lower it to 1 or 0 and have vastly imrpoved perfromance on lower end cards without too great a visual hit.
DisableMiniTextures=0
Turning this on to '1' does exactly what it says, disables all mini-textures - So instead of a rock being greyish, cracked and mossy - it becomes plain grey. Can help those of you with lower-end video cards, but does cheapen the games jungle authenticity.
TextureScaleDown=1
Does what you might think, the higher the value the m more it scales your textures down... Not pretty at high values.
Doesn't offer too much of a performance boost either, just leave my advice.
LowQualityAnimation=0
Setting this value to '1' can improve stutters, The low quality animation isn't too bad looking either - but unless your desperate, keep it at 0.
UseTexturesDirectory=0
No idea what this does, well.. Actually I have an idea but aint too certain. Either way it did nothing to my performance so just leave it.
Detail Textures=1
Setting this to '0' removes the up-close effects of textures - From a distance they look the same though.
If your video card is struggling, change this value to '0' and you can gain 10-25 more FPS.
Hardware TNL=1
All modern videocards support TNL, at little performanc cost. Keep it at 1.
ModeWidth=1024
ModeHeight=768
I believe this is your screen resolution.
When it comes to screen resolution, alot of people think that the higher the value - the less FPS. Not strictly true....
Lowering your FPS is more likely to free up RAM and improve stuttering... Think about it...
PreloadTextures=1
Does more or less the same as precache but with textures, I like this setting on (1) for systems with 1gb or more.
NoFog=0
Disables fog when set to '1'.
Didn't actually test it, even for the best computers out there this setting is gonna kill your FPS - it might be disabled as an exploit - not sure. But not recomended either way.
FSAA=8
Lower this value all the way to 0 if you want FPS - especially for older video cards. Doesn't effect your visuals too much without it but huge performance increase, especially on Nvidia cards.
GrassDensity=0.000000
I think the value can run from 1.000000 to 4.000000, obviously the higher the value the more lush and dense the grass looks - can effect performance if set too high.
DynamicShadows=1.000000
Set to 0.000000 to turn character shadows off, few more fps by doing so.
Particle systems=2
Imrpoves effects like rain-drops, explosions, smoke e.t.c. Set to 2 for high particle effects, 1 for medium and 0 for none. 1 still looks OK and performs good.
Weather effects=1
Turning off Weather effects wont drastically improve your perfromance, but will cheapen your gameplay.
VertexLightingMode=0
I recomend setting this value to '0' for everyone. It causes stutters and looks worse when set to '1'.
DISABLEWATERREFECTIONS=0
If your video card really can't handle the game, set this to 1 - but does make water look rather dull.
LIMITFPS=0
Does nothing
SHOWFPS=0
Does nothing, except maybe mess wih your opening viideo colours..
VSYNC=0
Synchronizes your frame rate to your moniters refresh rate. E.G. If you had a moniter refreshr ate of 75HTz, your FPS couldn't go above 75.
Only set to '1' if your having problems with your game and it's "jaggy" edges.
BLOOM=1
This is the nice effect given off by objects when light shines on them, turn it off to 0 for more FPS.
[Common]
CacheMemory=10
AllowMoreCache=1
CacheMemoryPercent=20
ROFCacheMemoryPercent=10
Try doubling all of these settings if you want a smoother performance, however - keep them the same if you have less than 1gb RAM.
y este otro GAME.INI ni me acuerdo de donde lo baje:
(copiar y pegar en nueva ventana para bajar el RAR)
